Lil’ Ski Chalet-Private Assoc. Beach! 1 dog OK!

SaraRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We loved the proximity to the mountain for a little ski getaway and the amenities were excellent. This was definitely the best stocked Airbnb with anything you might need from yummy coffee and tea and any other kitchen amenity you can think of, cotton balls and q-tips in the bathroom, a night light, hand soap in the kitchen and the bathroom.... Plenty of hooks for coats by the door and extra hooks in the bathroom for towels. Plenty of indoor mats for leaving shoes by the door and a great sofa and tv for lounging. All in all we really appreciated the attention to detail to make our stay comfy and cozy!

Corner Condo- ON Mountain ski in/ ski out!

AngelaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Overall, our stay was great! Super nice to be right on the mountain. Cozy little apartment, the pull out couch is not too bad, but for the value of the apartment it was worth it! Quiet building and neighbors, we had a great time and will absolutely be back! Did not use the pool or hot tub, but it looked nice. Apartment was fully stocked, except tissues, but not a big deal. Liz was extremely responsive and helpful!

My husband and I stayed here with out two daughters for a weekend of skiing and it was great! My 4 year old loved that she could just walk over to the lift and hop on and then ski back to the condo when she was all done. The space was great, comfortable and easy to use. I would definitely stay again

Scott's place was perfect for our small family's ski trip! It was exactly as pictured, had everything we needed for our stay, and was so close to Sunday River (~10 minutes) and right down the road from restaurants in Bethel Village. We would love to stay again on our next ski trip!

We had a wonderful girl's trip staying in Diana's house! We walked to the beach and to Scratch bakery (twice). The house was perfect for the five of us with a great sitting area to hang out and chat. The house was clean and the instructions for cleaning up were easy to follow.

Family/Friends Getaway Hidden on Mt Desert Island

KevinRating, 5 stars6 months ago
"From my daughter: This is our 3rd trip to Acadia National Park, but the first time at this Air B&b. Originally it was supposed to be for 5 of us, but 3 couldn't make it, so it ended up just being my husband and I. The Air B&b is in a remote enough area that it is nice and peaceful, but still an easy 20-30 minute drive to almost anywhere on Mt. desert island. The house has so many thoughtful touches, like an area outside for a campfire, supplies for smores, basic seasoning and condiments, all the light switches labeled (so thankful for that!), etc. We did a grocery run our first day and came back to the house for almost all our meals. This was a cozy place and we'd recommend to anyone visiting Mt. Desert Island and would return here again if we come back in the future."

It made the experience even more seamless and enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others!

Kennebunkport House - Walk to Dock Square!

MaryRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
We had a fantastic stay! The house was in a perfect location; peaceful, private, and still just a short walk to dinner spots, which made everything so easy. There was plenty of space for lounging and gathering, and more than enough bathrooms for everyone (a huge plus!). The house had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend away. Cozy, quiet, and super comfortable; we’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend.

Plovers Cottage, Waterfront

SierraRating, 5 stars6 months ago
This was hands down the best place we have ever stayed both on AirBnB and through other platforms. Mark & Kathy were so incredibly kind. The house is private with stunning water views and so clean and comfortable. The home was truly amazing. I can’t say enough about this place and the hosts. Everything was perfect and while we typically go somewhere new every travel, this has us already thinking about coming back just to enjoy it again! It’s close to Acadia though with how busy Acadia is I recommend visiting Schoodic Peninsula and the other preserves in the area. Sunset here was spectacular.

York River's Private Escape

TonjaRating, 5 stars6 months ago
We had a lovely weekend at Debbie's home! It was immaculate and very welcoming. The place is located right off the main road but is secluded. The weather wasn't great so we didn't get to enjoy the grill or outdoor setup but it looked very nice. The kitchen was amazing! All the equipment was in great condition and as a cook, was everything I wanted. Close to everything York has to offer! Great for families or a couple with a dog like us. Highly recommend!

Tranquility, Relaxation, Family, Romance

TheresaRating, 5 stars2 days ago
Lovely, super clean, beautifully decorated home. Everything you need (except a toaster). Huge yard was totally enjoyed by my doggie. 2 Gun shots nearby were shocking, guess it's hunting season in the woods (at least this city girl hopes that is reason). Only issues were dripping shower head, no stopper to take bath in deep soaker tub, and could not turn down heat for sleeping. Overall great 1st airbnb experience for me.

HotTub/5min to K-port, Pet friendly, @anchorunwind

KalilaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Such a lovely and peaceful home. The upstairs loft felt like sleeping in a treehouse. So many thoughtful touches throughout the entire house. The kitchen was well equipped with great appliances and supplies. Truly one of the best equipped and comfortable air bnbs we have ever stayed in. We did not use the hot tub but we really loved the whole outdoor space and the amount of windows which we opened on the warm day. Such a wonderful way to have all the comforts of home with the best part of being in nature. We even saw wild turkeys run through the property several times. We cannot wait to come back!

Your guide to Maine

All About Maine

Located on the northeastern tip of the Atlantic Coast, the state of Maine is the epitome of New England charm, with rugged coastlines giving way to an endless expanse of ocean and lighthouses and lobster boats dotting the horizon. For the outdoor adventurer, Maine’s wilderness is nothing short of breathtaking: Trek through the rocky red cliffs of Acadia National Park, cool off in year-round ice caves in Debsconeag Lakes Wilderness Area, and take a dip in the alpine pond on Tumbledown Mountain.

You can spend endless hours breathing in the fresh sea air here. For those more inclined to a city break, Maine has some of the most charming coastal towns around, starting with its biggest city, Portland. Stock up on local artisan wares, sample an up-and-coming restaurant scene, and peruse vintage and antiques shops brimming with treasures. However you choose to spend your time here, one thing is non-negotiable: Make sure to save space in your itinerary to sample Maine lobster in all its freshly-caught glory.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Maine

Maine’s full four seasons are part of what makes this state so beautiful. When to visit depends entirely on what you’re coming here to do. Maine rentals on the beach fill up fast in the summer (so book ahead), but with good reason: the weather is typically warm, the beaches are beautiful, and there is no shortage of outdoor activities to enjoy. Late spring and early autumn are good choices if you want to skip some of the crowds but still take advantage of nice weather for walking, hiking, and boating. Fall is possibly the most beautiful time to visit, as the forests break out in shades of reds, orange, and gold, though you risk the chance of rain or even snow in later months. In the winter, temperatures drop and blankets of snow turn the mountains into a skier or snowboarder’s paradise.

Top things to do in Maine

Lighthouses

Maine’s lighthouses have been important navigational points and welcoming safe havens to seafaring folk for 200 years. Many of these 65 landmark lighthouses are open to the public for tours — some house quaint museums, others can be climbed for panoramic coastal views. As you make your way throughout the state, keep your eye out for them; even if just from afar, they’re postcard-perfect sights to see.

Eat lobster

From inventive farm-to-table fare in Portland’s best restaurants, to piping hot bowls of clam chowder, bean suppers, clambakes, and craft beers, Maine’s local culinary scene is nothing short of drool-worthy. Still, there is one food that rules them all: lobster. Lobster rolls, steamed lobster, boiled lobster, grilled lobster — no matter the preparation, nothing beats eating it here, straight from the sea.

Acadia National Park

Maine is beautiful any which way you look, but Acadia National Park is perhaps the most beautiful corner of the state. From the heritage-protected Merchant Row islands famous for their granite, to learning about the homeland of the Wabanaki indigenous people, to lush forests painted in all the colors of fall, there are endless trails and treks to discover.
