Waterfront on Lake Anna

AllenRating, 5 stars27 months ago
My family of 5 with three young boys (2.5, 4, 7) had an excellent summer vacation at Rachel and Andrew's Lake Anna home. Rachel was a fantastic host, excelling at clear and efficient communications. We had a very positive experience with her, from booking to check-in to check-out. At barely over 2 hours from our home in the DC suburbs, Lake Anna felt like a vacation destination without the cumbersome traveling. It was located in a quiet pleasant community on the private/"hot" side of the lake. The house was beautiful. It was very clean, nicely decorated, and very well-stocked (especially the kitchen). It had a great layout that felt bright, open and spacious with high ceilings and an open floor plan. There were four bedrooms on the first level with four full bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms feel like masters, with en suite private bathrooms. One other bedroom had a set of bunk beds, with the 7-year-old of course laying claim to the top. The fourth bedroom had a queen. There was another full bath in the as-of-yet otherwise unfinished basement. There was a nice deck, notably with a screened-in section great for coffee in the morning and playing cards in the evening. We had all the room and amenities we needed and more on the spectacular ground level floor! The house was set back a short walk from the waterfront, where there was a private dock with a screened in room, picnic area, firepit, and excellent lake view. A stand-up paddle board and several well-maintained kayaks were graciously offered for our use, also located near the dock. We had a fantastic time swimming in the warm waters of the lake (including some safe shallower areas appropriate for our small children), roasting hot dogs in the firepit, having lunch or dinner lakeside in the screen room, kayaking and paddle-boarding about the cove, and fishing. All my boys had a wonderful time lakeside. We did not have our own personal watercraft, so unsure of rules governing launching or mooring your own boat or jet ski in the area. There was a lovely community playground/beach area just a few minutes walk from the house. We spent a nice morning at what felt like a private beach, and ventured over for some playground time a few times. This was a very nice amenity for our young children. There was also access to a nearby community pool, however we had so much fun by the lake that we never strongly considered venturing to the pool. There were plenty of nearby attractions and restaurants just a short drive away. We enjoyed an outing to Lake Anna State Park with a nice public beach, where Captain Ellis of Orange Troller picked us up in his pontoon and cruised about the public/"cold" side of the lake. We also enjoyed a sunset cruise with Captain Steve of Cruise Rusty. We rented some jet ski time with nearby LKA WaterSports, enjoying some time navigating the lake on my own. Of note, these commercial/rental services are only available on the public/"cold" side of the lake. The house is also only about 40 minutes drive from King's Dominion, where we enjoyed a fun day at the amusement park. Overall, we were very pleased with our decision to vacation at Rachel and Andrew's Lake Anna home and will certainly entertain returning in future summers!

Waterfront fantastic view Sandy beach private side

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful property on Lake Anna. We had 4 young children and 3 adults for our trip. We had plenty of space in the home, and the beach area was perfect for our children to swim. In addition to swimming off the beach, we enjoyed boating, tubing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. It was so nice to have kayaks and paddle boards included on the property. When we weren’t outside we spent a lot of time on the screened-in porch. Evenings were spent down on the dock with a drink watching the sun go down on comfortable chairs. We enjoyed exploring the surrounding area as well. We ate at four different restaurants. Had no problem stocking up groceries at Food Lion and grabbing a few things when needed from Dollar General. The surrounding wildlife was big plus. We saw some cool birds and saw deer going across the property at dusk. It was our first trip to Lake Anna but won’t be our last.

Breezy Mountain Escape

The pictures don't do this place justice! We stayed for a long weekend and would definitely go back. The property is beautiful and the pool is great. Our young kids enjoyed having a lot of room inside to run around. The hosta were very responsive and let us meet the horses, which was a highlight for the kids too.

Venson’s Getaway!

CassieRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Cannot say enough about the cleanliness of this home. %100 updated! It was probably my favorite place I’ve ever been! I’ve been all over the world! Peaceful, pristine, nothing missing. Pool is spectacular especially at night. Swimming while watching a movie was a huge surprise! It’s rt off the hway, which was also nice. I cannot say enough good about this place. Quiet, private, layout was so accessible and I imagine a family would love this place. I wanted for nothing, I loved the outdoor shower… I never showered inside! Bonus! Towels were perfect! I did not want to go home…and I went alone! It was a very special experience!

Waterfront Lake Anna Home: Porch & Fire Pit

MichelleRating, 5 stars2 months ago
We had a lovely, relaxing week at the lake, and the pool was a very nice bonus with this home. The home was very clean and had all the amenities we could ask for, including linens, towels, and some toiletries. The kitchen was well stocked, and we cooked a few nights. Our kids loved the supply of books, games, and the foosball table. The private side of the lake was so quiet, and we enjoyed fishing, tubing, and swimming, although the water was a balmy 95+ degrees! The owner's contacted us just before we were to come that the pool had sustained damage in the recent hurricane and had a leak. They were there the morning of our arrival day to rectify the situation and worked tirelessly to get the damage fixed, the pool refilled, and the chemicals in order as soon as possible. Within 24 hours of our arrival, we were able to use the pool again which was beyond our expectations. We can't thank them enough for allowing us to enjoy a peaceful week at the lake and stay in their home.
