Pet-friendly vacation rentals in Hilo

Hilo is a great place to visit, volcano park, beaches, Hilo and Ola Breweries. Jims place was a retreat, an escape to real hawaiian living. We fed the koi, relaxed while surrounded by orchids and palms. We had a great stay and would book again.

Roby and his wife were wonderful, welcoming and friendly! Very lovely hosts. We loved their dog Ike as well. The place was cute, quiet, and clean, and the beds were incredibly comfortable! We also loved the natural “white noise” of frogs and birds.

We (our family of 4) had an AMAZING time at this little cabin in Volcano! Clean, cute, comfy with a full kitchen which was perfect for not eating out our whole trip. The hot tub was awesome! Super close to Volcanoes National Park, where we went daily. We would 100% stay here again!

Had a great time in this private and peaceful accommodation. Ashley was very friendly and responsive and provided us with privacy and easy communication. This place provides a unique and relaxing glamping style stay. It rained very hard the first night and sounded beautiful as it’s an open air room but still felt very secure and everything stayed dry. After the rain the coqui were plentiful so it may not be for everyone but I found it to be soothing and peaceful. My only recommendation is maybe to hang a mirror in the shower room or in the kitchen/bathroom area. Mahalo for a great stay!

We had an incredible month-long stay at Tamara’s place in Pahoa! Her home was spotless, well-equipped, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Tamara was an excellent host, always quick to respond and resolve any requests. The location is truly magical—nestled in the heart of a lush rainforest with friendly neighbors, it’s a peaceful and unique setting. The proximity to Hilo and the Kalapana area was fantastic. We loved visiting the vibrant Uncle Awa’s night market on Wednesday evenings and the lively Sunday drum circle in Seaview Estates which is just a 15-minute drive away. Pahoa itself is a charming town with welcoming and helpful locals. It’s also a great base for exploring the island: Volcanoes National Park is only 40 minutes away, Mauna Kea about 45 minutes, and even Kona is in drivable distance. A delightful surprise was the two adorable stray cats that often visited—they added so much charm to our stay. Thanks Tamara for making our stay so memorable!

The view! What an amazing location. We saw whales in the bay right outside our lanai a few mornings. The space worked perfectly for our group of 7 girlfriends. Plenty of beds and bathroom space. The home is quite old, but we loved the character and evident history. Everything was very clean and tidy and well stocked. Really nice updated kitchen was wonderful. We were close to everything we wanted to do and enjoyed relaxing at the house in the mornings and evenings while enjoying the view. Though right across from a public beach, the house felt quiet and safe. Richard’s recommends ahead of time were spot on and helpful in making plans in advance. Thank you for a fabulous stay! We’d love to return someday!

We had a great time staying here. We love eating breakfast in the lanai overlooking the pool and palm trees. The place was really nice and clean. The bed were perfect ( not too firm nor soft) and the linens were clean. We had a great sleep every night. The kitchen was small but just perfect to cook and warm up food. The hosts were great at responding promptly to our question about water safety. It was nice that the tap water was safe to drink. The location was great. Close to a a lot of food places. Over all, the place was great and would definitely book again if we are in this area again. Thanks for letting us stay in your beautiful home!

My family and I had an amazing time. Everyone enjoyed the pool, spacious living room and outdoor lounging areas. Wayne is very communicative and welcoming and made us feel right at home. We were really lucky to have found this winner of an Airbnb and host.

Our stay at Sina's place was wonderful. It was more than what we expected. Sina was responsive to our inquiry about lights going dimming off and on, explaining that it was related to the main power line. It wasn't a big deal and appreciated the explanation. We enjoyed the cool breeze throughout the house, well-equiped kitchen, pool and outdoor area to grill and hangout. We had a relaxing stay at your beautiful home. Thank you.

Can’t say enough good things about Ginger and her place. To start, Ginger was a very proactive and responsive host. She made us feel right at home as soon as we arrived, gave us a tour of the place, and recommended a lot of great places on the island. As for the place, you can’t beat the price! It is a little far out, especially if you don’t have a rental car, but the area and nice and private, and the stars light up the sky at night. Ginger provides us with all the amenities we needed for our stay, along with clear instructions for both check in and check out. Thank you again for hosting us Ginger, we can’t wait to return!

This is one of the best Airbnb’s we’ve ever had the pleasure to stay in. You can tell how considerate the host is from the little things like providing welcome fruits and beach gears, to the abundance of toiletries and first aid kits. We fell asleep to the sounds of nature and woke up to the beautiful sunrise on the ocean. There is a stunning black sand beach 5 mins away on foot, and our kids had an amazing time even though we were worried about the nudity initially. People there were extremely respectful and we did not feel uncomfortable at all! Thank you for making our trip a magical experience!

We had a wonderful time staying at Kristen's place in Pahoa. She was such a great host. Very quick to respond to our questions and requests, provided great local tips, and an overall great person to get to know. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a home on the east side of the Big Island, either for a few days or for a longer stay. Very comfortable with a big bedroom, fully stocked kitchen, and living room. Jungle living at its finest!

Jacob was a great host and the place was perfect for me! Had no problem finding the place. Sea View is a beautiful neighborhood and I would recommend going to Uncle Robert’s on Wednesday really good vibes 🤙 Mahalo Jacob this trip was exactly what I needed 🏝️🏝️🏝️

Everything exceeded our expectations! Booking, checking in and checking out was so easy and simple! The house is gorgeous, big, spacious and so cozy and prepped with all that you could need! A break from the hustle and bustle of O’ahu was exactly what we needed. My family sure enjoyed the house to the fullest! My kids used the party lights every night, the girls got to enjoy the backyard, everyone exercised in the gym, the neighborhood was perfect for a brisk family walk and the 6 of us had so much room to occupy! The big kitchen was wonderful for our lovely family meals and the kids even had lots of space to build a big, cute fort by the front door! The luxury bathroom was fantastic and being able to use the laundry room was just great! Mahalo nui loa again Tony! Stellar job with this airbnb and we hope to come back again soon!

Very peaceful, clean, and not far from volcanoes national park. It's very secluded and quiet, so we had a blast freaking out our teenagers .

From the moment I arrived, I was very happy with the location. It was a quiet neighborhood, and I felt safe. Upon the easy check in, I noticed everything was spotless. From the kitchen, to the living room .. bathrooms were perfectly stocked. Definitely has a woman's touch with all the toiletries in the bathroom. There was shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and plenty of fresh clean towels. The space has plenty of natural sunlight, and there is even a porch to sit and relax behind the sliding door in the bedroom. I was traveling by myself to visit my son and his wife, and there was plenty of room when they came by to visit and I even made them a delicious dinner. There are plenty of utensils, plates and cups and we were all were able to enjoy thanks to the great stove and refrigerator provided. I can't say enough how perfect and comfortable I felt during my stay. I will definitely be going back soon! Thank you for your hospitality

I love how the place was decorated of the Star Wars theme. My boys are huge fans of the franchise. The kids had lots of fun seeing all the decor, playing with toys, and adults played the board games. The house was very spacious for a group of 11 of us. The house is cool because the lava burned down the house next door and there are steam vents now in front and all around the property making it look like a land from Star Wars. There was A/C in the home which was great because it can get warm and humid sometimes. There was still hair in the shower in the main bedroom but I think it’s because the hosts maybe live there and it was booked last minute. The host greeted us and showed us the place quickly and they made sure we had everything we needed. The house was pricey but super cool for one night and worth it to see my boys nerd-out for one night and just be in awe with all the cool decor.

Our favorite feature about Leigh's Place was the size. There were five of us, two grandparents, two parents and one 10 year old child. We all had a place to go and take time for ourselves as well as great family times at the front room tables or on the very spacious porch. The kitchen was very roomy and easy for several of us to be in there at the same time. Our 10 year old loved playing ping pong with his dad in the basement. The house was beautifully landscaped a gave a feeling of paradise. We were not far from town and the beaches. Very convenient location if one did not mind a short drive. Very clean. The five of us have taken quite a few Hawaii vacations together and Leigh's Place was definitely my favorite accommodation to date.
