We had a wonderful stay at Sunshine Studio! The cabin was very cozy and warm — the heater was already on when we arrived, which made us feel immediately welcomed. Sarah is such a caring and thoughtful host. We loved meeting all the lovely animals, including the little goat, Kunekune pig, Highland cow, peacocks, birds, and rabbits. It was truly a peaceful and heartwarming experience. We would love to come back again!

Our stay here was nothing short of perfect. The location is great if you want a little more privacy and peace, but not too far that you feel cut off from the busier towns. The home was clean and inviting, the breakfast foods provided were a lovely touch and getting to see the animals was also great. Nicola was an incredible host, even offering to help us get items back that we foolishly left behind! My partner and I would highly recommend staying here and if we are ever back in this part of the world, we wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Not a bad word to say. Just wonderful.

A cute little cosy cabin in a beautiful, tranquil location. I was wanting a getaway from Dunedin for a few days and chanced upon this cabin in Kakanui. I was lucky to have found this enchanted place. Kathrin and Walter were great hosts in going the extra mile in making a shy, private person like me feel comfortable and welcome. They invited me into their home and offered me coffee and kept me warm with their log fire while there was a brief power outage in Kakanui. Their narration of how they first arrived in this country from their home in Switzerland was very interesting and admirable. Kathrin has the gift of being jovial and is a great conversationist. Very nice house and the house is so well stocked with everything you might need. Great place to stay, would highly recommend!
