Cottage vacation rentals in Decentralized Administration of Crete

Stayed here for three weeks in April. The Makis mother did her absolute best to make us feel at home right away - she often brought us home cooked pastries and Greek desserts. Starlink Internet was stable and fast, had no issues with it. You are pretty high up in the mountains so it can get chilly if you are not going in summer, when we arrived it was pretty cold inside. Water pressure is not great but manageable, it's also solar hot water, so the temperature can be hit and miss. The place has hotel-like access card for the lights and sockets, so when you leave everything turns off, which can be a bit of nuisance. Not much natural light inside, but the mains lighting inside is more than sufficient during night time. For better or worse you are middle of nowhere surrounded by mountains and sheep's, thus there is really no reception in the area, for sms and calls you need to go outside.

Amazing terrace, felt private and had nice views on the sea and mountains. Great communication with the host.

Flawless accommodation, beautiful little house tastefully renovated. The jacuzzi is very nice especially at this time of year when the temperature drops quickly after dark! We thank the hosts for their special touches. Ideal for staying a few days with family! Only small negative point, the main road of the village is a little busy in front of the accommodation (do not hesitate to close the gate with children!) However, once inside it is very well soundproofed.

We spent several days in Villa Nikki and had a wonderful time. The house, the view, the Pool - everything was just amazing. Communication with Giannis and his team was also perfect. If our vacation wouldn't have ended we probably just would have stayed there for ever :)

The villa is beautifully located in a dead end on the mountain of the small village of Armenoi. Everything is well maintained, clean and atmospheric. All sanitary functions are very great in shape, the kitchen is great incl. Dishwasher equipped and the sleeping areas maintained. The grill worked impeccably and coal and lighter were ready. The communication with Elina has been great, very helpful and attentive. A car is indispensable if you want to go to the sea ( 8 min. Travel time to Kalyves ). I would come back anytime and therefore also recommend the best conscience.

Amazing place to stay and relax. We came to the area for the hiking and wild flowers in spring. I have never seen so many different orchids in one area. The apartment was wonderfully comfortable and so relaxing to come back to. A little luxury !

Luisa's place is a magnificent little gem nestled in an amazing surrounding. It's the perfect hideout if you enjoy the tranquility of village life and hiking the mountains. The little house is beautifully decorated with local materials and furniture, giving it a warm and cozy feel. The view from the terrace is breathtaking! (also for looking at the stars at night) We thoroughly enjoyed our hikes in the mountains and gorges, and dining at the family tavernas in the neighbouring towns/villages, which offered delicious food. Luisa was extremely helpful and responsive, providing us with a long list of excellent recommendations for restaurants, day trips, shopping, and more. Thanks for everything, Luisa! We will certainly come back!

We had an amazing stay! The views are incredible and even better than the photos! We enjoyed eating our breakfast looking out at the mountains. It’s so peaceful and private. Niki and Yerasimos were great hosts, so friendly and kind & we loved how they personally met us and even had homemade biscuits waiting for us, a really nice touch. They also gave their own recommendations which was so helpful as it meant we visited some local beaches we’d not have gone to otherwise and they were beautiful! We also visited the local taverna a couple of times which is just a short walk away so really convenient and they did great food! The place was cosy, comfy and clean. Overall it was the best airbnb visit either of us have had!

We chose Kostas' place, as we travel with our dogs. We loved it because it feels like you're visiting a friendly house in the countryside. The garden and the area around the house are very beautiful and allow you to sit at all hours of the day. The kitchen has an electric stove with an oven, a regular fridge and a lot of cooking utensils . In the bedroom there is a semi-double bed, with a comfortable mattress and in the living room a sofa - that turns into a bed. The bathroom is relatively small, but it has been renovated. The house is close to supermarkets, but also on a main street.

Our vacation at Lambros was full of nature and tranquility. There were 5 of us and we had plenty of space. The rooms are divided into two houses separated by the beautiful pool. We were greeted with fresh fruit, wine, homemade oil and a filled refrigerator. In addition, a hot meal was ready for us. Lambros comes every 2-3 days after consultation and takes care of the pool. We were visited by a few shy cats. Communication with Lambros was great. We will be happy to come back.

We had a fantastic two nights stay at Vivi's who is a ever so positive and proactive host together with her lovely husband. She so much took care of our needs and "fed us like her children" :) The apartment is quietly situated and is a gem to all lovers of cats and dogs.

Basil House is a beautiful, hidden gem in Kastri and we really enjoyed our stay here! The house is incredibly spacious, AC in every room and the VIEWS are wonderful. Also there are a lot of cute cats on the property. You can reach the village and the beach within 15-20 minutes and there you'll find everything you need. Haris was a very good host who gave us great recommendations. We highly recommend staying at Basil House! :)

Such a fantastic week at Villa Michail, Kalliopi was so welcoming and warm, giving us a full tour of the facilities, and Dimitra was extremely prompt in communication to answer any questions we had. The villa itself is high in the mountains, with exceptional views from multiple angles of the surrounding mountains and greenery. Kalliopi and Michail have renovated the property to a very high standard, retaining numerous features and belongings of when it has been passed through generations of their family. It made our honeymoon really special and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone else. Thank you again!

Charis welcomed us in a very friendly way and gave us many tips. The views are fantastic, a wide view of the sea and the countryside, various beaches are within walking distance. The house is located on a great property with many different seating options and privacy. From here you can take many wonderful hikes. For example, the coastal hike around Cape Kako Mouri and to Kalypso Beach is fantastic. We found Plakias itself a bit too touristy, even though we were there in the off-season. The weather can also be very changeable and stormy at the beginning/middle of April. For vacations in Plakias, we can definitely recommend the house!

We had a great stay at Olga’s place in Kalo Chorio. It was such a short drive to the beach (or a walk if you prefer) that we went every day. The apartment was perfect for a holiday. The village was peaceful and quiet, so a good way to escape the busy cities. Olga was the perfect host.

One of the nicest places we've stayed so far! The little house is secluded, complete tranquility & deceleration! We enjoyed the days here, the terrace under the house invites you to lie in the sun, read and enjoy the view. The view is amazing, even from bed. The path is adventurous and not for the faint of heart by car - extremely steep and more for ATVs, but we also managed with a small rental car. The kitchen is well equipped and everything you need is there. It's about a 15-minute walk to Mochlos! Very recommended to anyone looking for peace and quiet!

Almyriki Studio is a perfect place for people looking for peace and relaxation away from tourist hustle and bustle. The accommodation is very, very nice for two and fully corresponds to the descriptions. The beach (30m) was beautiful and empty with about 1km length and with about 20 people. In Sindonia there was a tavern on the beach until the end of October that was visited a lot by locals and has super good local dishes but also delivers very good standards (pizza, etc.)! There are several mountain hikes within 20 km that are a very good and exciting alternative to the beach. All in all highly recommended!

The apartment was fantastic, placed in a romanic village on top of the mountains, not far from Bali beach. Very well reconstructed stone house, clean and perfectly equipped. I personally appreciated fresh herbs, oranges and mandarines from the garden. We enjoyed very very much, thank you!

Gonia is a great, quiet village. Perfect for a relaxing getaway after the chaos of the more populated areas of Greece, yet still close enough to get to the other areas of Crete that we wanted to visit. The host is a super-host for a reason! She brought us fresh produce from her garden throughout our stay, including the most beautiful tomatoes that we had ever seen. The house is very quaint and the stone keeps it cooler during the very hot summer months. The outdoor space offered here is wonderful for relaxing, either downstairs in the shade or upstairs in the sun in the hammock or at the second dinner table. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!
