My goal is that you can replicate the recipes when you return back home. La Leona Waterfall Hike
*** FREE roundtrip transportation provided from Curubande downtown to the Waterfall *** Let us know if you need transportation and we can quote you the service with a local driver from town. Our day starts by meeting at our office located 20 min away from Liberia downtown through the small villages of Colorado and Curubande. We count with two parking lots at our location in Curubande where you can leave your car safe while we do the hike. From Curubande we will take a 4WD for 1 km that will take us to the entrance of the waterfall trail and here is where the hike begins. The waterfall is well hidden away on the outskirts of Rincon de la Vieja Volcano . The trail is 1.3 Miles (2 Kilometers) singletrack so together it is 4 km. There are some climbing to do in elevation and some caves to go across. Later to reach the waterfall we have to swim 25 meters through a beautiful turquoise river canyon. This is a local experience that takes place where the Blanco and the Colorado rivers cross through, forming canyons and beautiful scenery which is why the water in their pools have that special turquoise tint.

Inside the Canal we will arrive at a group of islands in a protected area in order to see as many species of animals as possible (and there are many !!), among them we will see monkeys, crocodiles, birds, iguanas, sloths and others. Rainforest tour, waterfall and Embera village
After convenient pick up at your hotel or Airbnb in downtown Panama City or Casco Viejo, we will head to the Chagres National Park, 45 minutes by car. Once at the Chagres River, the Embera people will take us by a traditional canoe up in the river. We will leave the canoe at certain place of the river and then we will walk 20 minutes to the waterfall by a difficult trail in the jungle, we will be walking on sand, dirt, mud, slippery rocks and through water as we will be crossing a creek several times to get to a pristine waterfall and swim in its refreshing water, then we will walk by the same trail back to the boat and head to the village where you will be welcomed by the Embera community. At the village, we will have fruits and lunch (fried fish and plantains) while one of the leaders share with us about their way of life inside a traditional hut. This visit is complemented by a performance of their traditional music and dance. You will have open time to explore the village and shopping of souvenirs.
