We had the most wonderful stay in this charming cabin nestled on the property of a windmill in Alkmaar. From the moment we arrived, our hosts Kelly and Han made us feel completely at home. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect—so kind, welcoming, and full of great local tips. The cabin itself is a dream—coziness taken to the next level. Every detail was thoughtfully put together, and it was the perfect place to unwind to relax. Waking up next to a windmill felt like something out of a fairytale. Alkmaar itself is a beautiful village full of history, with adorable shops and restaurants to explore. The charming canals add to the magical atmosphere, and it’s easy to hop on a train to Amsterdam for a day trip. We’re already dreaming of our return and feel so lucky to have made such lovely new friends in Kelly and Han. Highly recommend this magical spot to anyone visiting The Netherlands!

The house corresponds to the pictures, we immediately felt comfortable. An Easter bouquet, tulips and cheese as well as a magnet from Alkmaar. Noortje welcomed us so warmly. The house is ideally located to explore the surrounding area, 4 bicycles are available, you are in Alkmaar in about 5 minutes - it doesn't get any better than that 🤗 In the nature reserve, 5 minutes away from the house, there is a fenced dog run with agility, which was really fun not only for our dog!! We'll be back 🙂

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our stay here was just great again! The house is absolutely clean and offers a relaxing atmosphere with very good vibes. Even in bad weather, you can spend a great day indoors and make yourself really comfortable. The hosts are incredibly nice and warm, so you feel welcome immediately. The place is immaculately clean, the bed super comfortable, and the kitchen superbly equipped, including a microwave to warm up shopping from Albert Heijn. Breakfast was delicious, and all the ambiance in the middle of a field was breathtaking and totally relaxing. Absolutely recommend for anyone looking for a quiet break in beautiful surroundings! ⭐️ P.S: There is also a cute cat that sometimes visits One on the porch and is quite intimate. A cute dog also looks out of the host family's window every now and then. Very sweet. You can really relax here. :-)))))

Had a great stay at Ellen and Peter's! We had everything we needed. The apartment was super equipped and clean. Communication with Ellen was quick and very pleasant. We will be happy to come back!

Perfect for exploring the surrounding area, many beaches and beautiful cities accessible by car (also by bike). The place is not touristy, so we chose it. Supermarket, bakery and other shops available. The space is private and familiar, but self-contained. Nice ambiance, great yard, also for the dog. Very pleasing hosts. Conclusion: Excellent! Glad to come back!

We were there with the family and all felt very comfortable right from the start. It was very clean, the beds were so pleasant and the view in the morning was a dream. The apartment was furnished with a lot of heart and attention to detail and well equipped - whether for cooking or grilling and even baking would have been possible. We enjoyed the terrace with the sun very much and the living room also invited us to linger. The chickens gave a very special touch. We would move in there immediately.

We had a lovely stay. The cottage is beautiful, really clean and provides all the comforts you want. The view of the water from the cottage and the terrace is really great! Outside you can also sit quietly, while, if desired, there is also plenty to do in the region. We thought it was definitely recommended!

We spent 2 nights in Johan and Gerda's beautiful place and we are delighted!! The accommodation is even better than in the photos, very clean, very nice decor with beautiful materials. Typical and characterful house, the accommodation is located in a quiet area, in a charming little town in the low countries. Very well located ( 35 min from Amsterdam) and very well-equipped, we would highly recommend this accommodation!! Johan and Gerda are caring and caring hosts. An address to remember.

We really enjoyed staying in the house, it was spacious with a good garden. Convenient near a supermarket and centre of Alkmaar. Responsive hosts and good instructions. Strongly recommend.
